# Poultry Farm Business Plan — Template

Use this as a working document. Answer each section honestly before you spend money.

## 1. What you'll farm, and at what scale
- Broilers or layers? (or both)
- How many birds to start?
- Why this number?

## 2. Who buys from you
- Live-bird market? Eateries/hotels? Neighbours? Egg customers?
- Name at least two specific buyers or channels.

## 3. What it costs
- One-time capital: housing, equipment, first chicks.
- Running costs: feed (60–70% of the total), vaccines, labour, water/power, transport.

## 4. What you expect to earn
- Birds × realistic selling price (minus losses), or eggs × price.
- Be honest — a plan that only works at the best-case price doesn't work.

## 5. Breakeven and buffer
- Price per bird (or egg) you need to break even.
- Keep a 10–15% buffer for surprises.

## 6. Risks
- What could go wrong (disease, feed price, poor brooding), and what you'll do about each.
